Dabard ceremony

Professor René Dabard Ceremony

In 1964 professor René Dabard, coming from Dijon University and Professor Jean Tirouflet group, created at the University of Rennes 1 the first laboratory on organometallic chemistry.

He developed metallocene chemistry and related new planar chirality concepts.

Thus, this year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of organometallic chemistry in Rennes.

Professor Dabard later became the president of the University of Rennes 1 (1975-79), then was scientific Director at Rhône-Poulenc, and the Director of two Rennes institutes. He was also the first President of Rennes Atalante: the Technopole of Rennes, launched by the former mayor of Rennes Edmond Hervé.

The University of Rennes has just decided to honor professor Dabard by giving his name to one amphitheatre of its Campus of Beaulieu.

The ceremony, in the presence of professor René Dabard,  the president of the University Guy Cathelineau, and senator Edmond Hervé, will take place just after the end of the first day lectures of the International Symposium on C-H Activation, on June 30 at 18 h, amphitheater A.

The participants of the symposium are invited to attend the Professor R. Dabard ceremony and the cocktail that will be served straight after.
